Lavezzi: Paris Saint-Germain could sign Messi

Ezequiel Lavezzi is in no doubt that Paris Saint-Germain are capable of signing Barcelona star Lionel Messi.

The four-time Ballon d'Or winner is under contract to the Blaugrana until 2018 and speculation is rife that he will be offered a new, improved deal at the end of the season.

However, Lavezzi feels that PSG, who are owned by the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), have the necessary financial resources to meet Messi's reported €250 million buy-out clause.

"Certainly a team like PSG could take a player like Leo Messi," the Argentine winger told Telefoot.

"In football, anything is possible. The club will have to see, and the player as well."

Lavezzi joined PSG from Napoli in 2012 and he is delighted with the way in which they have improved over the past two years, claiming that they are now in a position to win the Champions League.

"We have grown as a team," he enthused. "Other players have arrived. Day after day, we are progressing together.

"PSG are a team to watch. We are very strong now and we can win the Champions League."

Lavezzi initially struggled to justify his €30 million transfer fee in the French capital but he has been in fine form in 2014, much to his delight.

"I was not at the level that was expected of me but now things have changed," he admitted. "But that's football: overnight you can start to play better; to score."

PSG currently sit 11 points clear at the top of Ligue 1, while they will face Chelsea in the last eight of the Champions League.
